2. Data processing through the use of PilotRoster App

2.1 Data processing by app stores

Before you can install this app, you may need to sign a user agreement with your app store operator about access to its portal (e.g. Google Play, App Store). The app store operator collects and processes data such as user name, e-mail address and individual device code number in connection with the use of the app store. We are not a party to the user agreement with the app store operator and have no control over its data processing. In this respect, the Privacy Policy of the respective App Store operator applies.

2.2 Access to the PilotRoster App

If you enter a display name, it will only be saved on your device and never sent over the Internet.
The entered roster will not be stored on your device or sent over the Internet. The roster is used only to create the calendar entries on your device.
In principle, the PilotRoster App is designed to collect only personal information that is required for the function of the product (data minimization principle).
To optimize and improve the app, services are used that collect data for the provision of the services.
The details are described in the following sections.

2.3 Use of Google Firebase

The PilotRoster App uses the Google Firebase service to analyze and categorize user groups, and to generate and evaluate crash reports and to display advertisements.
Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement, providing a guarantee to comply with European privacy legislation (Google Privacy Shield).

2.3.1 App analysis

2.3.1.1 Google Analytics for Firebase

The PilotRoster App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to analyze usage behavior. Google Analytics for Firebase is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin, Ireland.
When you install the PilotRoster App, Google Analytics for Firebase captures when and how long the app is being used, which pages of the app are being viewed, what features are being clicked, and what content is being displayed. This will help us to understand how you interact with our app. Furthermore, based on your user behavior, we can continually improve the app and provide you with more relevant offers / services.

With the data collected by Google Analytics for Firebase, no inference can be drawn to specific individual users.

The use of Google Analytics for Firebase is based on our legitimate interests in improving our app and the fact that your interests, fundamental rights and fundamental freedoms, which require the protection of personal data, do not predominate.

2.3.2 Crash Reports

The PilotRoster App uses Firebase Crashlytics to generate crash reports. Crashlytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The Privacy Policy of the service can be found under Google Firebase Privacy Policy and Google Firebase Data Processing Terms.

Crashlytics collects data about the state of the device, information about the device used, information about how the app works, and where the device was at the time of a system crash. With the data that Crashlytics collects, no inference can be drawn to specific individual users.

The use of Crashlytics is based on our legitimate interests in classifying a crash of our app (e.g. how many users, what devices, operating systems, or versions are affected), quick troubleshooting to prevent and resolve crashes of the app, as well as the fact that your interests, fundamental rights and fundamental freedoms, which require the protection of personal data, do not predominate.

2.3.3 Advertising

2.3.3.1 AdMob with Firebase

The PilotRoster App uses the Google AdMob service to display advertisements.

Google may use the advertising ID from the device on which the ad is serving to generate interests and demographics (for example, 'sports enthusiasts'). Interests, demographics, and other data may be used to serve better targeted ads to the user.

To complement personalized advertising (formerly known as interest-based advertising), Ads Settings lets users view and edit their interests and demographics. Some users may choose to opt out of personalized ads.
